Businesses use a wide range of hosting providers. Around a third keep their data within UK or Irish-based services. The rest rely on global providers such as Google, Microsoft, and Amazon.

A smaller group, around 13%, manage their own on-premise servers. This reflects a strong preference for control and ownership.

Growing concern around data location

One of the most notable findings is the rise in concern. Nearly 40% of businesses said they have become more aware of data location recently. This concern is not limited to leadership teams — employees and customers are also raising questions.

When asked specifically about the USA, concern was even higher. Over 70% expressed unease about storing data there.
